Hours: 45 hours (5 X 9 hour shifts,) between the hours of 07:00 – 22:00 Monday to Saturday

Job Summary

The Fleet Maintenance Specialist is responsible for assisting in the administration and coordination of the company’s Ambulance fleet.

This includes maintaining accurate records of vehicles and driver companions, ensuring that CQC rules and regulations are adhered to, scheduling repairs and preventative maintenance, and ensuring that the necessary numbers of fleet vehicles are available for the successful delivery of the PTS Service.

Day-to-Day Duties

  • Monitor daily vehicle compliance checks, tracking system, insurance claim handling, Fuel usage and assist the company to ensure all areas of specialist patient care are carried out to the highest standards.

  • Understand the company’s technology and systems that run operations, primarily Samsara, Fleetcheck and Echo but also telecoms and future innovations.

Skills Required

  • Strong technical knowledge of vehicles, engines, and mechanical systems.
  • Willingness to be flexible, versatile, and tolerant in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and driving maximum efficiency.
  • Understand ethical behaviour and business practices, ensuring that your own behaviour and the behaviour of others is consistent with these standards and aligns with the values of OnCue.

Additional Skills and Knowledge

  • Understanding of the difficulties involved in medical transport and the SLA’s.
  • Experience in managing driver companions.
  • Experience in using fleet management software.
  • Experience in working with CQC rules and regulations.
  • Organized and methodical thinker.
  • Firm conviction in your ideas and the willingness to go the extra mile to deliver on them.
  • This is a demanding and challenging role, but it is also a rewarding one. The Fleet Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring that the Non Emergency Ambulance Service is able to operate safely and efficiently and that patients receive the highest quality of care.

Essential criteria

  • Full Clean DVLA driving licence – Drives cars – manual and automatic.

  • Experience of fitting vehicle trackers would be an advantage, but not essential as training will be provided

  • Good self-discipline, can work proactively without being constantly supervised

  • Good work ethic – hardworking, punctual and reliable

  • An eye for detail and the ability to use their own initiative

  • Clear verbal communication skills

  • Basic understanding of how to use computers for data entry – Training provided
