The OnCue Transport Self Employed Driver Companion position is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing business and make a real difference to the lives of our patients.
The work:
- Working in a single or double crew to aid patients with various mobility classifications, transporting Patients to and from non-emergency medical appointments throughout the UK – these could be at NHS or private hospitals/clinics.
- Ensuring that all patients are collected from their home/medical site and that they are taken to the correct ward and/or settled at home safely.
- Being friendly and engaging with patients who may be nervous about appointments or live an isolated life.
- Following COVID protocols and PPE regulations at all times.
- Responsible for ensuring the comfort and safekeeping of all patients in your Ambulance. You will be expected to drive in accordance with the Highway Code and in a manner that is both safe and legal.
- Responsible for the wellbeing of your patients from the moment a booking is sent to you, up to the point the patient is deposited at their destination.
- Inspecting and completing daily vehicle and equipment check and vehicle wipe down after every patient.
- Being dependable and on time. Helping patients with mobility where needed, including the use of a wheelchair to transport them.
- To treat all patients with dignity and respect, providing a quality and dignified service to all patients
- Reporting any safeguarding issues or incidents to the team.
- Following all health and safety procedures.
OnCue works with a bespoke training & recruitment company called The BTR Hub, who are assisting us with the recruitment of our Driver Companions.
The BTR Hub will contact potential applicants to select them for interview, and where applicable, provide applicants with suitable training to meet the criteria of our requirements.
The training provided is an investment in yourself, with courses providing nationally recognised qualifications and certificates which are transferable. Once trained by The BTR Hub, you will be a fully compliant PTS driver, qualified to work in a single or two-person crew.

Required Attributes and Skills:
- Clean, Full, UK Driving Licence
- A desire to care whilst earning
- Good all-round communication skills
- Ability to use App based operating systems
- Good team player
- Flexible approach to work and working hours
- Ability to work on your own initiative.
- Good command of the English Language – other Languages are beneficial but not required.
- Reasonable physical well-being
Please note that working as a Patient transport driver is designated as a safeguarding role and will require us to undertake an enhanced DBS check on your behalf before you will be able to start training.
